Design and development of an IoT-based Home Automation System.
The IoT-Based Home Automation System is designed to simplify controlling household appliances such as lights and fans through a smartphone app or voice assistants like Alexa and Google Assistant. By integrating IoT technology, this system enhances convenience and energy efficiency, allowing users to operate devices remotely. The project offers a smart solution for creating energy-efficient homes and improving the comfort of daily life.
The system uses an ESP32 microcontroller for IoT connectivity, interfaced with sensors and a relay module to control multiple appliances. A motion sensor (PIR) detects movement to automate lights, while a light sensor (LDR) adjusts appliance behavior based on ambient light levels. The system connects to the internet using the ESP32’s built-in Wi-Fi module and is controlled via the Blynk IoT platform. Integration with Alexa and Google Assistant allows voice commands for operating the devices, providing a seamless smart home experience.
The ESP32 microcontroller controls the relay module, which switches the connected appliances on or off based on user input or sensor data. The Blynk IoT platform serves as the interface for users to control devices through a smartphone app, and the voice assistant integration allows for effortless control using voice commands. For example, the PIR sensor automatically turns lights on when motion is detected, while the LDR adjusts lighting based on the room's brightness. The system can be monitored and controlled from anywhere using the internet.
